My Music: London 2012

Oh I do so wish one could buy shares in songs, because if you could two songs would definatly be worth a punt. With just over 200 days to the start of the London games it is a fair bet that these two songs will become anthems of the games and of London.

Proud, by Heather Small, has already been used in a number of different ways and was used in the whole bid process. It is an amazing song, wonderful words and the girls voice is simply superb.

The second song is Gold by Spandau Ballet. It is a winners song, it is a song dedicated to dreams and that is what the games are all about, people pushing themselves to be winners. Like Proud, it is also already being used and I think all sorts will have this as a musical backdrop and the song will be played over and over.

So I hope you enjoy these two songs, but be warned, you are going to be hearing them a lot over the year of 2012.

My Music: Funny video's, well sung

I came accross this person on YouTube almost by accident, and have to say I was well impressed. This girl got talent. I really don't know a lot about her, but if she wrote these songs, as well as performing them as well as she does, then fair play. These two are funny and show the versitility.....

However, this one is my favourite. And if you see the original by Dappy, the video is quite clever.

Mind you, like all good artists, sometimes they get it wrong and this last video I just am not into, but its only to post it up as well.

The Christmas Number 1 ( #scd #simoncowell #xfactor #Militarywives )

I have posted on my blog about the xFactor before, I don't mind saying I watch the show, and for the most part, enjoy the light entertainment it provides. And this year is no exception, I have enjoyed it, At first I liked Janet, had a liking for Misha B until they stopped her singing her way and now I want Little Mix to win. But equally I won't be texting or calling to vote, and I seriously doubt I would buy an album from them or the winner of the show, not my kind of music at all.

But the Christmas number 1 issue is different. Just about every year it is the winners song that claims that prize and I say, fair enough. If people want it then they have that choice, and good luck to them. But this year, thanks to an amazing man, Mr. Gareth Malone, the honour of that title must be someone else. This is a moment I wish I had millions of followers on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and with this blog so I could really promote the Military Wives Choir. They must be Number 1 this year.

But the likes of Simon Cowell, the XFactor, Strictly Come Dancing do have the millions of followers and they can, must, be the ones promoting this single. Mr Cowell, do the right thing. Over the years these shows have shown support for the troops, they wear thier poppies with pride. But this is real help and this time they need real support.

This is a beautiful song, it has meaning and is sung with meaning and real feeling, everything an xFactor judge demands. It just must be this years Christmas Number 1. Below is the official video, enjoy.............

My Music: Week 2 favourite tracks

This week I am feeling a little retro, plus to help explain just a little of who I am I thought lets go back to the day, back to my musical roots.

The first video is from the worlds greatest band: Madness. However trying to pick just one song from them is impossible for me, however I have done and here it is. I picked this because it also incudes some wicked dance steps and as someone who loves to dance, I guess this is also where it started.

While Madness were the fun ska of the time, my second choice is from the more serious, political, sound of the day, The Specials. Ghost Town was a serious reflection of the time and today it could be once again the song that reflects the mood of our time.

On my little blog I am am going to post up my favourite tracks as I listening to them. And this first post features my two current favourites, I wonder what it says about this Middle Aged Man ?

The first is the Rizzel Kicks and "Down with the Trumpets". Love to dance to this.

My former home, love it, miss it.

This is a famous music video which was filmed at my former home, Obudu Mountain Resort, Cross River State, Nigeria. God I loved this place, the people, the great times and the nightmare times. A really special place indeed. The song is a classic Naija beat, and the boys came to the mountain to film thier video, very cool.
